You've done the hard part.

Weeks of showrooms, samples and changing your mind, and now there's a kitchen you actually love, on order or sitting in boxes in the garage. It's probably the most you've spent on the house since you bought it.

Now it all comes down to whoever turns up to fit it.

And people are right to worry about that. A good kitchen badly fitted looks like a cheap one. Doors that don't line up. A worktop joint you can spot from the doorway. A plinth that wanders along the floor. Then there's the fitter who starts on Monday, vanishes to another job on Wednesday, and leaves you washing up in the bathroom sink for a month. And the price that was "about four grand", right up until the extras started.

I've been on the tools for over fifteen years, and none of that is bad luck. It comes from the same three things every time: a price that was never pinned down, a fitter who goes missing without a word, and nobody whose name is on the line when it's finished.

So here's how I do it instead.

How a kitchen goes with me

• Know the whole cost before a single unit comes off the wall. After a free site visit you get a fixed written quotation within 48 hours, covering everything, including what you'll need to supply. The price quoted is the price you pay.
• Spend your money on the kitchen, not on somebody's markup. You choose and buy the units and worktops wherever you like, so you get exactly what you want with nothing added on top. My price covers the labour and the working materials.
• One phone number from rip-out to final finish. Old kitchen out, cabinets in, worktops on, then the tiling, joinery and finishing. You're not ringing round a tiler and a joiner and hoping their diaries line up.
• Gas and electrics done properly, without you having to find anyone. They're completed by certified gas and electrical partners.
• A working kitchen back in about one to two weeks. That's the usual run for a straight fit, and you'll know the figure for yours before you commit to anything.
• You're never left guessing. Once your kitchen is started, we see it through. If a day ever has to be missed, you'll hear it from me first.
• No big lump sum up front. A booking deposit secures your start date. The rest is split into four equal payments across the job, the first due on the day work begins.
• If something isn't right, it's my problem, not yours. Every kitchen carries my 12-month workmanship guarantee, and I carry £5 million public liability cover.

Who'll be in your kitchen

I quote every job, and I check every finished kitchen myself before your last payment is due. The fitting is done by me or by a reliable, qualified and trustworthy tradesman I've worked with many times before. Gas and electrics are done by certified engineers. Only trusted, vetted tradesmen will ever be in your home, and you'll know who they are before you pay a deposit.

You'll have noticed there are no kitchen photographs on this page. I've fitted kitchens for years, but for other firms, and their customers' kitchens aren't mine to show off. I'd rather show you nothing than borrow somebody else's pictures. What I can show you is the rest of my work, and what the people I've worked for say about it. Kitchen photos will go up here as the jobs get done.

These are guide prices. Your fixed written quotation follows a free site visit, and the figure on the quotation is the final, guaranteed price.

If your kitchen has a delivery date, read this

I only take on a few kitchens at a time, so start dates are limited, and they go in the order deposits arrive. If your kitchen is already on order, message me now with the delivery date and I'll tell you straight whether I can meet it.

Questions people ask

Do you supply the kitchen? No, and that's deliberate. You buy it wherever you like and I add nothing to it. If you haven't ordered yet, that's the best time to get in touch.

Which kitchens do you fit? Any of them, rigid or flat pack: Wren, Wickes, B&Q, IKEA, Magnet, DIY Kitchens or an independent showroom.

What if a unit turns up damaged or missing? You bought the kitchen, so the supplier puts it right with you directly. Check the delivery against your order as soon as it arrives. If I find a problem when the boxes are opened, I'll tell you straight away.

I haven't ordered yet. Is it too early? No. Send me the plan before you pay for it. It costs nothing, and a problem is far cheaper to catch on paper than on your wall.

Is there VAT on top? I'm not currently VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add to any price on this page. If that changes before your job is invoiced, VAT will be added at the standard rate, and I'll tell you in writing before it does.
